Finishing Touches For Your Bathroom

If chosen well, finishing touches can breathe new life into dreary-looking bathrooms, and can add that extra something to recently decorated ones. Here are a few ideas on finishing touches that will make your bathroom look beautiful.

Mirrors

Mirrors are decorative items, so don’t just opt for a single, plain one above the basin. Mirrored storage units are great for smaller bathrooms, as it makes the room look spacious. Choose mirrors that have distinctive framing, such as a frosted edge, to give the room some character.

Go Vintage

Vintage furnishings have been on-trend for a long time now, so consider adding them to your bathroom, especially if it is decorated in a country-style. You could display vintage toiletries, or perhaps buy a bronze bath tray that could hold candles, a shaving mirror, flannels and soaps. You could also use vintage ornaments, like a traditional shaving bowl.

Be Bold

If your bathroom is decorated in neutral colours, adding some bold finishing touches will be sure to give it some character. You could use brightly-coloured towels or tiling, for instance. Or, if you’re feeling brave, add a statement blind or shower curtain to match the theme of your décor.

Bring The Outdoors In

Bringing the outdoors in will make your bathroom feel fresh. If the room is large enough, consider using outdoor furniture, such as a wicker chair. You could also place a bunch of freshly-cut flowers inside an old watering can and put them on the window sill.

Soft Textures

Sometimes, bathrooms can look and feel cold due to tiled flooring and white bathroom suites. If this is the case, adding some soft furnishings to the room will instantly make it more homely and welcoming. If you have a chair in the bathroom, drape a chenille throw over the top or place a ruffled cushion upon it. You could also use a large, vibrant bathroom rug as the centrepiece to the room.

Electronics

Most rooms in the house make the most of electronics, so why not the bathroom, too? A long soak in the bath could be made even more enjoyable if accompanied by relaxing music from your iPod, or perhaps your favourite TV show. A radio in the bathroom could also be a great way to help you wake up when having your morning shower.
