Infold & Bifold Enclosures
Infold and Bifold shower doors are very practical space saving items as they open fully or partially into the wet area or tray. This means less space is necessary for the door to open out into and allows you to bring other bathroom equipment closer to the showering area than is possible with a pivot or hinged alternative. Here you can browse a collection of stylish glass doors and enclosures from this category made by both Soakology and Merlyn. The range includes framed and frameless glass in 6 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm thicknesses.

Infold or Bifold?
The main difference between these two categories is that bi fold, as the name suggests, fold in two parts fully into the cubicle or showering area whereas Infold products are a single part door that, when open, swings partially into the enclosure and protrudes partially out of it. The infold usually presents a greater opening to enter through however the bifold requires no clear space outside for any of the door to swing into.
Points to consider when choosing Bi fold doors
- Semi framed or frameless? - this refers primarily to the glass in the door as all items in this category have an outer frame. the glass in the Astre range has a small metal frame in between the two sheets of glass whereas the Asta 8 has two panels of frameless glass.
- Quality of hinges and runners - of all of the door types this is the one that takes the most movement through both runners and hinges. for this reason we insist on quality fittings for all of our Astre ranges.
- Space inside the showering area - as bifold doors open inwards closing the door once inside the smallest of the standard UK enclosures 700mm and 760mm square can be slightly awkward for taller or larger people.
